Typical 60s, British, Anti-War BUT Some Good Points
It's hard to explain why I liked this movie but I found it very difficult to hit the stop button. Some of the acting was exceptional but it was overshadowed by some very poor supporting actors, bad special effects, and abrupt editing. What I liked most about it was the obvious support provided by someone who knows something about combat in a small, special operations unit. Some of it was obviously overdone but the attention to uniforms, equipment, teamwork drills, and survival was very realistic. The plot turns stupid toward the end with the German readily accepting his fate as a prisoner when there were ample opportunities to escape or overcome his captors. But this is one that I can say had some redeeming qualities overall and I would recommend it to anyone who likes to see different approaches to small unit tactics. The Sarmajor
